Introduction In the previous part we have discussed that Yang Yun Sung wrote Feng Shui of Yin premises is potent enough to be a causative basis for the long duration of the Han dynasty. He also emphasised that ancestor worship is the key to Feng Shui of Yin premises. However, modern conventional tomb Feng Shui contains a lot of deviations from what Yang Yun Sung taught. Many are blindly following what their masters taught without comprehending their art Inaccuracies in Magnetic Compass Readings One hype is that practitioners of Feng Shui of Yin premises would warn that accuracy of even less than one degree in compass readings is required. This accuracy is said to be necessary especially with respect to avoiding the tomb's facing falling into one of the inauspicious Kung Mang (Death Emptiness) lines. The Xuan Kong Fying Stars would claim that there are 48 Kung Mang lines. The Yang Kong group would claim this is rubbish as there are 72 Xiao Kung Mang and 8 Da Kung Mang lines. Who are right? These warring schools miss the one great point. They do not realise that it is scientifically impossible to get accurate compass readings of less than one degree! The Earth's magnetic pole is also not stable and has a gradual shift of at least 1.35 degree every 200 years, making long term compass accuracy impossible. Ever use a modern GPS (Global Positioning System)? You will find that when the GPS is placed on a flat surface to eliminate variations due toi hand handling, its readings will still vary by at least one degree. Hence, masters doing the same site have even claimed that the others got the wrong directions. Actually, the same person doing readings can get a few degrees variation, what more different persons.
Ancient Compasses Not That Accurate During the Tang dynasty period of Yang Yun Sung there were only the 24 divisions in the directions corresponding to the 24 Mountains. The 360 degrees compass was invented in AD 1200. Hence, how do some cook up that Yang Yun Sung taught a 360 degrees Feng Shui? The Yang Gong school wrote that Yang Yung Sung wrote in his Tian Yu Jing, Heaven Jade Classic, about the 360 degrees:
It is quite impossible for the AD 900 document of Tian Yu Jing to mention any 360 degrees, as the 360 degrees compass was invented only in AD 1200, basically a Western innovation. You can judge the Yang Gong group for making that misleading quotation.
Testimony from the Imperial Tombs Owing to the susceptibility of wooden structures to fire, only few above ground imperial structures like the Ming and Qing palaces still remain. However, a wide range of imperial tombs, being built with massive stone structures, do survive.
If you look at the imperial tomb, you will find that the imperial stone tablet is aligned with the entrances and external tortoise stele in a straight line along the main axis. This auspicious Feng Shui concept was also called the theory of Ze Zhong Lun, or "Choosing the Center". No one shifts the imperial stele tablet, equivalent to the modern tombstone, to face any socalled auspicious direction. All those shiftings of tombstones to get auspicious facings are nonsense! In extension to Yang premises, all those shiftings of doors are also nonsense. The auspicious Feng Shui concept of Ze Zhong Lun must not be violated.
