CHARTER OF STRATEGY PAGE
MISSION
Dissemination of the delightful
yet potent Oriental strategies.
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
The modern era is characterised by rapidly accumulating vast
informations which are also swiftly changing and also faster
communications which have intermingled different groups of
people as never before. High pressures are created which
the modern executives and leaders must know how to handle rather
wide range of factors often of complex nature. There is
especially the need to response soonest possible to arising
complex factors.
All these call for peerless strategies and great emotional
discipline. These strategies could be obtained from the
Oriental strategies, which had served the ancient civilisations
well and are the answers to issues of the modern era.
The most famous Oriental strategy
manual is Sun Zi's Art of War. But the Orient has other potent
strategy documents! Find out what they are!
GOALS
The goals of the Strategy Page are:
- Inculcate successful principles of strategies for all
walks of life.
- Inculcate humanism into the practice of strategy
- Inculcate harmony among all groups of people.
- Facilitate community building and then nation building.
STRATEGIES
Win without Fighting,
Cyclic Strategies, Retreat-Attack Strategies, Small Defeating
Big, Waiting Game, Water Mirror Mind, 1,000 Years
Step, etc.
The Strategy Page will establish a forum to study and discuss
Oriental strategies, in comparison with the modern often Western
strategic management leadership science. This will direct the
understanding of the Oriental strategies toward applicability in
the modern era, especially in the context of globalisation and
the mixing of diverse groups of people.
It is also necessary to recognise that the Oriental strategy
documents were written in high context format. That is, terms
and themes are those found and already defined in the context of
the relevant culture. Hence, there is a great need to
understand the cultural context in order to elucidate the true
strategic principles meant by the ancient authors. Those trying
to interpret the ancient strategy texts without reasonable
understanding of the cultural background are likely to emerge
with superficial if not erratic interpretations.
The Oriental strategy documents are often permeated with a
strong sense of humanism and high regard for human intregity and
well being. In this, they would differ from the Western
Machiavellian philosophy where one should win at all costs, even
at the expense of humanity.
Lastly, the Oriental strategies play for keeps. That is,
they are often aimed at the establishment of a society where
peace and prosperity are for keeps. The gist is that an unhappy
society cannot last, and only happy people make for an enduring
civilisation.
