Xu Ziping was a Sung official and he could not have created a new astrology system without permission from the emperor. In finding how Ba Zi Eight Characters divination originated from Zi Wei Dou Shu, our research also determines how Ba Zi Eight Characters divination was a fake inspired by imperial orders. A nearly 1,000 years imperial deception is finally exposed.

Astrology and Feng Shui were potent arts which the emperors wanted to reserve only for their own uses. In order to prevent the common people from accessing the imperial secrets, the emperors had fake arts created. Thus, while Ba Zi Eight Characters divination began to spread in use during and from the Sung dynasty, Zi Wei Dou Shu remained an imperial secret until recently unveiled with the collapse of the Manchu Qing dynasty.

What are the things the emperors wished to be kept secret and thus are missing in Ba Zi Eight Characters divination?

In discovering how Ba Zi Eight Characters divination originated from Zi Wei Dou Shu our research also identifies how the emperors faked many areas of Ba Zi Eight Characters divination.

The first and most significant imperial deception involves the omission of the 14 Major Stars. By eliminating the hour of birth from Ba Zi Eight Characters divination, it was made impossible to determine the 14 Major Stars.

Why did the emperors do not want the 14 Major Stars to be made public?

This was because the 14 Major Stars determine kingship! With the Si Hua stars, the 14 Major Stars are also able to guide the emperors to make crucial day to day decisions. Through the elimination of use of the hour of birth, Ba Zi Eight Characters divination can never be used for kingship.

One issue which is an obvious fake is the concept of the 10 Years Luck Pillar in Ba Zi Eight Characters divination. Those familiar with Zi Wei Dou Shu would know that it requires the hour of birth to determine the 10 Years Luck Pillars. Since the hour is not used how can Ba Zi Eight Characters divination creates its own 10 Years Luck Pillars? The Ba Zi Eight Characters divination 10 Years Luck Pillar is a fake!

• Zi Wei Dou Shu has methods to calculate the 1 Year Luck Pillars and also those of the Month, Day and Hour. Ba Zi Eight Characters divination is forced to rely on the erratic calendrical running 60 Sexagenary signs to determine the luck of the Year, Month, Day and Hour through the conventional Four Pillars system. The Zi Wei Pillars do not have to use the conventional Four Pillars system.

  The emperor would always be many steps ahead of anyone in the public. The emperor would know when would be the best time to deal with another person.

One serious error in Ba Zi Eight Characters divination, also common in other astrology arts even Zi Wei Dou Shu, is not correcting for the precession of the equinoxes, where at least Year Zodiac sign must shift by one sign. For example, 2011 has been wrongly taken as the Year of Rabbit when it is actually the Year of the Dragon (see www.quiculture.com/fs10asny11.htm ).

Another serious error is taking the stars of Ba Zi Eight Characters divination and Zi Wei Dou Shu as "imaginary stars". By saying that these stars are "imaginary" these proponents betray an ignorance of what really are Ba Zi Eight Charac ters divination and Zi Wei Dou Shu! In our courses, we have shown that this view is nonsense by showing how the various stars of Zi Weri Dou Shu correspond to various planetary positions.

There are quite a number of other features in the Ba Zi Eight Characters divination which are fakes. Proponents of Ba Zi Eight Characters divination are unwittingly naive!

Ba Zi Eight Characters divination was invented during the Sung dynasty and must have origins in some existing sources of astrology. This article shows our research breakthrough finding that Ba Zi Eight Characters divination was derived from a portion of the stars of Zi Wei Dou Shu. The comparision with Zi Wei Dou Shu also indicates areas where there were imperial deception.

Once I found how Xu Ziping faked Ba Zi Eight Characters divination from Zi Wei Dou Shu I stopped teaching Ba Zi. Instead, when I am teaching Zi Wei Dou Shu, I would show my students how Ba Zi Eight Characters divination is derived from Zi Wei Dou Shu

It is a sad thing to see that proponents of the various Feng Shui and astrology schools argued against each other without real understanding of their arts. Almost all the so-called masters do not have the analytical skills to penetrate the ancient texts and history to detect the imperial deceptions and have been dubbed into transmitting errors down the ages.

Wonder when they will wake up.

These proponents remain stagnated in their levels of understanding, often never comprehending what their masters taught them. Some of these levels of understanding can be symbolised by the trigram Gen, which has a superficial strong front but is hollow behind and within.

This research shows and further confirms that the many astrological systems are equivalent to each other, although some have more errors than others. Our current research is progressing in finding out more exactly how the Zi Wei Dou Shu and Ba Zi stars correspond to actual planets positions and movements.

Further Research

This critical analysis is part of Gui Management Centre's mammoth project translating ancient Mandarin texts on Feng Shui and astrology into English. These are especially analysed in terms of history and scientific geography and astronomy, for both Feng Shui and astrology are highly scientific.
