Breaking the Kingship Code of King Wen I Ching:
1. The "Fengshen yanyi" Clue

Application of a unique method of statistical comparisons has broken the code to the sequence of King Wen I Ching's 64 hexagrams. The basis to the sequence of the 64 hexagrams has been elucidated. The statistical comparison shows that King Wen I Ching, circa 1126 BC, originated from Chapters 1 to 4 of Shan Hai Jing, the 3rd millennia BC Chinese text! Millennia old secrets are finally unveiled.

The ancient "Fengshen yanyi" text describes fall of the Shang dynasty. The events during the fall of the Shang dynasty appears paralleled by events in the 64 hexagrams of King Wen I Ching. Statistical comparisons were carried out on whether the sequence of events in passages in King Wen I Ching corresponds to the sequence of events in the fall of the Shang dynasty. Events in the sequence of at least 12 pairs of hexagrams can be shown to follow the sequence of events in the fall of the Shang dynasty. This has a statistical chance of one in 4,096 or a highly significant probability of 0.0002441 or 0.0241%.

• No one who does not understand the history of the fall of the Shang dynasty can hope to understand the kingship secrets of King Wen I Ching.

Breaking the Kingship Code of King Wen I Ching:
2. Of Yueh Ling and Hsia Hsiao Cheng Calendars

Statistical comparisons were also carried out to evaluate whether the seasonal features in King Wen I Ching correspond to seasons in the ancient calendars. What is remarkable is that the order of the seasons noted in the hexagrams of King Wen I Ching follows the sequence of the four seasons in the year:

• The flow of seasonal features in King Wen I Ching follows the normal seasons with 11 correspondences. This is a statistical odd of one in 2048, or a probability of 0.05%

• The flow of seasonal features in King Wen I Ching also follows the sequence of seasons in the Yueh Ling calendar with 14 correspondences. This has a statistical odd of one in 16384, or a probability of 0.005%

• The flow of seasonal features in King Wen I Ching also follows the sequence of seasons in the Hsia Hsiao Cheng calendar with also 14 correspondences. This has a statistical odd of one in 16384, or a probability of 0.005%

The code to the sequence of the 64 hexagrams of King Wen I Ching is broken! Secrets lost for millennia are finally re-discovered.

• Both King Wen I Ching and Shan Hai Jing have similar teachings about that cyclic fluctuations in seasonal parameters influence human behaviour. Thus, the leader who knows this can possess supreme strategic knowledge to rule the kingdom! They are ancient texts for supreme kingship!

Misleading Mathematical Formulas

Some rightly recognise that the 64 hexagrams of King Wen I Ching are actually 32 pairs of hexagrams

A number of attempts tried in vain to determine if the 64 hexagrams follow any mathematical formula. Our evaluations show

• Sung dynasty philosopher Shao Yung came out with the so-called Fu Hsi array of the 64 hexagrams. His array is remarkable in that it gives Leibtniz the clue to the discovery of the binary code. But this array throws no light on the mystery of King Wen I Ching. Chu Hsi. foremost Confucian scholar, brushed aside Shao Yung Fu Hsi array as Chu Hsi found it has illogical components

• Mathematical diagrams have been drawn trying to embrace the 64 hexagrams into some fixed patterns. But these often confusing patterns throw no light on the mysteries of the King Wen I Ching.

• The Zhou Yi left behind a description that the 64 hexagrams are in two unequal divisions, the first of 30 hexagrams and the later of 34 hexagrams. The reason for the unequal division has not been known up to this day. But we have finally determined why the unequal division was made - it has to do with a pivotal turn in the historical events during the fall of the Shang dynasty.

One needs to understand the events during the fall of the Shang dynasty to crack the secrets of King Wen I Ching! This is why trying to impose some mathematical formula onto the I Ching will be in vain.
