Breakthrough "Lectio Divinia" Finding Unveiled and Deciphered: Secrets of the Tarot; Part 2. True Universal Nature of Origins. In-depth scholarly research, comprehensive and very practical Dr Ong Hean-Tatt Ph.D. 10 July 2024 Through millennia the great secrets float in the Akashic Records.
The previous article demonstrates that Tarot has origins long before its debut as a playing card in the 14th century in northern Italy. Origins include Egyptian and Kabalic sources. There is also the interesting link of Tarot to the Greek AD 100-200 Tablet of Cebes
The Tablet of Cebes has 43 sections, which depict a labyrinth of circulating enclosures from the entrance upwards to the top of its hill like structure (Figure 1a). The initial sections show an old man giving advice to the traveler. Then the traveler would take the labyrinth passage up the hill and see different aspects of the experience of life in the subsequent sections This old man appears again in the last section 43 where he summed up the conclusion of the experiences.
This old man would be the "0 Fool" in conventional Tarot. He was visibly there at the beginning and then at the end. But his presence pervades the all the sections of the labyrinth journey. This does support view that "0 Fool" is both the initial and last card, and that it is pervasive through the rest of the Major Arcanas.
As illustrated in the Figure 1b, the labyrinth spiral of the Tablet of Cebes has similarities to the Greek "Game of the Goose".

The Tablet of Cebes and Game of the Goose unfold a continuous journey from the beginning to the end. It indicates that the Tarot 22 Major Arcanas also have an arrangement depicting a flow of steps along a journey. As stated earlier in the previous article, the conventional sequence of the Tarot Major Arcanas can be statistically shown to follow the sequence of the Lunar Constellations. That is, the evidence all points to that the 22 Major Arcanas are meant to illustrate a continuous journey. It is possible to show [not done here] that the meanings presented through the 43 sections of the Tablet of Cebes parallel the meanings of the 22 Major Arcanas. The comparison can throw light on the controversy as to whether the Hebrew alphabet Aleph should be that of the "0 Fool" or "1 Magician". The old man was there at the beginning and end of the Tablet of Cebes. He should have the first alphabet Aleph. The old man is not the traveler. In the initial sections, the old man was talking to the traveler. That is, this traveler who was there with the old man in the very beginning was also "1 Magician"! Now, "1 Magician" is also the "Juggler" who travels. That is, "0 Fool" and "1 Magician" actually shares the same starting alphabet Aleph! The conventional Waite Tarot has the "0 Fool" as a traveler walking along a precipice. However, the Tablet of Cebes has the precipice only in Chapter 15: As the Tablet of Cebes seems to indicate a journey up a mountain there would be [precipices at various spots. But there are also flat areas, enclosures and meadows.
The discussions show that the Tarot Major Arcanas drew from a number of ancient cultures. There are Egyptian, Hellenistic and Biblical symbolisms. They are said to be Hermetic and Kabalic in nature. The Tarot did not originate from just any single ancient culture. The evidence indicates that the founding masters of Tarot took from various ancient cultures. Why? The ancient founders of Tarot were Universalists! They recognised that running through the ancient cultures are universal Truths and iconography! The ancient Tarot masters believed that these ancient cultures are equivalent to each other in representing the Truth of God! The great moral is presented on the last but two section:
