Dr Ong Hean Tatt, Ph.D.. 5 May 2021. This article is written in memory of the Wang Clan ancestors without whom many ancient Chinese sacred texts would not exist today.
On someone's request, I researched about my Wang Clan founder, Wang Ziqiao. The research has an amazing breakthrough finding that Wang Ziqiao was the transmitter of practically all the ancient Chinese sacred texts! Without him, practically all the ancient Chinese sacred texts would not exist today! Traditions say that the ancient powerful strategy and geomancy texts were jealously guarded by the royal families. Ordinary people were forbidden these texts. How did some masters not of the royal families "found" them? The answer can be found in Wang Ziqiao, founder of my ancestor Wang clan. The 21st king, King Ling of Zhou (571 - 545 BCE), reigned in Chengzhou. A son of King Ling, Wang Ziqiao was reduced to civilian status due to his remonstration to the king. Daoist Master Fuqiu drew him up Song mountain. 30 years later, he told Huan Liang, "Tell my family to wait for me on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month at the top of Goushi Mountain." When that day arrived he mounted a white crane and stopped briefly on the mountaintop. People could see him but could not go near him. Raising his hands to thank his contemporaries, he left several days later (having become an immortal).

Wang Ziqiao was later appointed patron deity of Tiantai Mountains. Wang appeared on a number of occasions to worthy practitioners and came to be the protector of major monasteries at Tiantai. Wang Ziqiao took texts to Tiantai. Wang Ziqiao was close to Zhongsong Zi (Red Pine). A student of Red Pine was Huang Shih Gong, the master of Chang Liang, who wrote "Three Stratagems". It was at the libraries of Tiantai that Ge Yuan uncle of Ge Hong studied. Ge Hong compiled his uncle notes, which include Baopuzi and Qi Men Dun Jia. About the same period Guo Pu visited Tiantai and he compiled Zhangzhu and illustrations to Shan Hai Jing. Gui Gu Zi was reputed to compile Qi Men Dun Jia. Gui Gu Zu parked himself at Tianmeng mountains which is not far west of Tiantai Mountains. How did Gui Gu Zi get the texts? The answer lies in Guiguzi name which is Wang Xu. Gui Gu Zi was of the royal family and of the lineage of Wang Ziqiao. He must have taken Qi Men Dun Jia from the Tiantai libraries. Gui Gu Zi's students include Su Qin, Zhang Yi, Pang Juan, and Sun Bin [Sun Bin Art of War], Shang Yang [master of writer of Wei Lao To], Mao Sui, Gan Mao, Le Yi, Fan Ju, Cai Ze, Zou Ji, Li Shiqi, Sima Co, Gongsun Yan, Li Mu, Wei Lao, Li Si, Xu Fu. So, the famous strategy texts like Sun Zi Art of War came from Wang Ziqiao, Gui Gu Zi (Wang Xu) and the Wang circle.  . Ziqiao's ancestors include King Wen who compiled King Wen I Jing. The Zhous claimed descent from Ta Yu, who compiled Shan Hai Jing and created the Later Heaven Bagua. Zhuangzi stated that Confucius met Lao Zi, the chief librarian at Luoyang, and asked Lao Zi how the Zhou emperors worshipped at the "Grand Temple". Confucius transmitted the 4 Classics of the King Wen I Ching, Book of Songs, Book of History and Li Chi. Confucius took the texts from the imperial library, with the permission of Lao Zi. However, Lao Zi was an outsider. He would not have known the imperial secrets, unless some royal member told him. Wang Ziqiao (565 – 549 BC), Lao Zi (604 - 531 BC), Confucius (551–479 BC) were contemporaries. My ancestor Wang Ziqiao possibly enlightened Lao Zi on the forbidden imperial secrets. Then Lao Zi passed on the texts to Confucius. The leak from the royal family had to be through someone of the royal families. Otherwise, guards would stop any unauthorised person from taking from the royal library. That royal person was likely Wang Ziqiao circle.
