Four Parables show origin of sufferings starts with first Parable of "Faithless Steward" and ends in fourth Parable of sufferings among the Sheep and Goats. Buddha presented the four things in reverse. Buddha started first by identifying the fact of sufferings in the world, and then worked backward by showing root causes as failure to implement the Eightfold Path. What the Lord Jesus Christ showed in the Four Parables, the Lord Buddha also showed the same things, only in reverse.

• Existence is suffering (Dukkha)
  • Suffering is placed last by the Lord Jesus Christ's Parable 4 of Sheep and Goats, where sheep [and even goats] are suffering.

    Buddha placed sufferings first and worked backward to sufferings' fundamental causes in lack of Eightfold Path [Fourth Noble Truth]. But Jesus began with the initial cause as the Faithless Steward who does not follow the knowledge and thus leading to the final result of sufferings.

  Origin of suffering (Samudâya) is desire [greed]

  • Buddha identified that sufferings exist because society is run through greed, not regulated properly and thus is chaotic. This is what Jesus described in Parable 3, Talents. The greedy goats have no "Talents" to run society properly.

  Cessation of suffering (Nirodha) through cessation of desire [greed]

  • To counter desire and runs society properly you need to have the right knowledge. This is Parable 2, Ten Virgins. Society would not be run properly because there is lack of knowledge.

  Path to the cessation of suffering (Magga) through Eightfold Path

  • The right knowledge is spelt out by the Eightfold Path. The Eightfold Path is not followed by the Faithless Steward [Parable 1], who instead, through greed or desire, bullies and oppresses those below and around him.

Even as stated by Buddha above, the root causes of sufferings are always in the human beings, never God or even Satan. If you want to deal with sufferings, find out where are the causative factors in human behaviour. The Lord Jesus Christ would sum it as "The blind leads the blind, and all fall into the pit". The similarities shown here support the speculations that Lord Jesus Christ, during his famous lost years, possibly visited Buddhist centers in Asia.

People are bewildered by the "myriad of sufferings". Leaders wonder what to do. History is the testimony that leaders failed through the ages to eliminate sufferings – because they lack understanding of the 'Dilemma of Sufferings". These wayward leaders become the real causes of sufferings.

Every event has a cause, which results in a scientific inevitable chain reaction leading to the final result. Sufferings have root causes and only by knowing the root causes can sufferings be finally eliminated. Hosea 4:6 says "my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge". This is illustrated in Figure 1.

The "Dilemma of Sufferings" have these key cyclic highlights:

• All sufferings are caused by unworthy human leaders [Faithless Steward]. Both Lord Jess Christ and Buddha pinpointed the "rich".

  These unworthy human leaders are driven by greed and lack knowledge of how to manage society [Ten Virgins]

  Greed and lack of knowledge lead to inability to manage society [Talents]

  Greed and lack of knowledge lead to leaders oppressing people and manipulating people with injustice [Sheep and Goat] \

Sufferings are caused by unworthy human leaders. God and Satan are not to be blamed! Buddha never blamed God and Satan but focused on our oneself as the Cause.

The inner core of Figure 1 is a strategy flow chart which I used to present during strategy organisational managment courses. Note one thing. The mental qualities also have strategic impacts on strategy organisational management and productivity! That is how spirirtual qualities in especially leaders can affect the good fortunes of an organisation, company, army and country!

• Good News! Those who are being oppressed would have learnt the lessons about sufferings. They will qualify to become future leaders and they will replace the current wayward leaders! The Lord will take from one and give to the other! The first shall be last and the last first!

  You do not have to be leaders now. Just learn how sufferings come about and avoid causing sufferings.

  Warning: those who are now leaders and rich would be in danger of being rebuked by the Lord. The good become "grand pianos", the bad becomes "toy pianos".

The Table below confirms similarities between key teachings of Lord Jesus Christ and Buddha. 8 Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-10) are same as the Eightfold Path! They are also close to the 8 Principles in Bhagavad Gita

What are preached in AD 33 by the Lord Jesus Christ's Four Parables and 8 Beatitudes are also mirrored in 600 BC Buddha Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path! These also went back to the Bhagavad Gita circa 2500 BC and the Book of Enoch 3000 BC!

Through the ages, God's Truths are found not only in the Holy Bible but also in non-Biblical cultures! These astounding Divine Truths can be found through proper deep and God inspired study of the ancient scriptures.

This is a warning against those who claim that faiths outside the Holy Bible are demonic. As Lord Jesus Christ said, like about the Pharisees, they just did not understand the scriptures. Do not waste time berating others' religions, but learn what they say about the ways to overcome sufferings. God's Divine Truths are in every ancient major religion!
